HAMBURG: POLICE SEIZE OVER 2,5 TONS OF COCAINE IN BANANA BOXES

Germany, Hamburg’s largest port, has increasingly become a hub of drug traffickers, prompting the police to ramp up checks for drugs in cargo containers.

The German authorities have seized around 2.5 tons of cocaine bound from Ecuador and the Netherlands, police said.

Police seized the drugs in one banana containers locate in Hamburg Harbour’s container yard. 

The shipment contained a total about 2500 packets of cocaine — each packet worth a kilo — in different banana’s boxes. Police intercepted the container loaded from Ecuadorian port city of Guayaquil.

German Federal Minister of the Interior also recently said that authorities in his country had intercepted a shipment carrying about 2.5 tons of cocaine in Hamburg.
